Ballot Statement: I have been a member of ASMP since 2003, on the board of directors for the San Diego chapter since 2006 and have served two terms as that chapter’s president. I continue to be actively involved locally. I would like the opportunity to perform at the national level.
Within the time of my service in San Diego, we have been able to focus on monthly programming, education, and membership. Our chapter has grown approximately 30% as we recruited and created a new board of directors. As George C. Anderson states “Kevin has helped build the San Diego Chapter into a strong group with deep leadership.”
Today this board is moving forward, together, producing quality and pertinent programming on a monthly basis. We are working diligently to establish essential working relations with local educators while continuing to reach out to the photographic community and educating younger photographers in good business practices. We are successfully engaging the established photographers in conversation on current trends and relevant matters. Kate Baldwin assesses my continued involvement with ASMP stating “Kevin’s dedication to ASMP is evident, as is his ability to see the big picture when making decisions. He is a visionary with the tenacity to follow through and make things happen.”
During my time in San Diego, I have been fortunate enough to work with our current national board. They have been doing a fantastic job keeping ASMP moving forward in very difficult times. I believe I would be a relevant and successful addition to this group of representatives. As Thomas Werner has said “Kevin will bring strong leadership skills, a dedication to our organization, and an independent voice and perspective.”
I feel a personal responsibility for the well being of my fellow ASMP members. I am dedicated to the betterment of a profession I love. I am excited to give back to the organization that has done so much for me personally and professionally.
As a freelance photographer working the streets and battling in the trenches of our troubled economic environment, I know what photographers are experiencing in real time. I identify with today’s photographer. I want to be of assistance during this challenging period and time as our industry continues to change so quickly.
Richard Kelly believes that I will bring “leadership, a willingness to see projects through to the end, a fresh perspective (and) a can and will do attitude” to the national board. I believe that is exactly what I have to offer.
I will continue to work passionately for the betterment of ASMP and to address the challenges and changes faced by our industry. I am excited to be part of such a great organization. I am honored to run for the national board. Thank you for your time and support.
