Ballot Statement: In my thirty years as a photographer, and as a member of ASMP since 1981, I have watched ASMP grow and prosper. I consistently use its resources to run my business and to gather information for business planning. I believe that ASMP is worth the investment because of its value for information resources and because it fights for photographers’ rights and is a watch dog for our industry.

Short term goals include immediate revisions and improvements that will establish transparency between the Board and the general membership, that will improve communication, and that will attract new membership and retain current membership. Additionally, a review of the Governance Committee may be warranted to better address the needs of the general membership.

Other goals include building a stronger global presence for ASMP. As we know, the world is getting smaller and communication across the globe becomes increasingly easier and faster every day. I believe there are opportunities that would allow ASMP to successfully grow in the international market resulting in a expanded referral system for business, education and promotion of services.

Another important goal would be to deliver ASMP programs to more than one city or chapter at a time, using simple technology, attracting new membership, and saving dollars at the same time. For example, more seminars produced in short segments and positioned on the web for a wider appeal and better value to current and potential members.

ASMP has made progress and now is the time to take it to the next level. Increasing the value of the membership, transparency of Board business, and enhanced communication with members is key. Especially in a time when everyone is cutting budgets and association memberships, we want to ensure that ASMP members are getting the best value for their investment, and I am the candidate for the job.
